Channel Five Broadcast Live Birth...

Channel Five is about to broadcast ‘the UK’s first televised natural birth’ in Birth Night Live. Presented by Gaby Logan, the birth will take place at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. This two-hour special documentary will be shown on October 8th and will also includes the likes of Meera Syal and Nancy Sorrell, who themselves also gave birth to a set of twins girls each, earlier in the year. Furthermore, there will be a feature on the quadruplets born to Julie Carles in March and their extraordinary story on how the four babies shared the same placenta. ‘Ms Carles' pregnancy and the birth were filmed exclusively for Birth Night Live and will also be the subject of a Five documentary, Extraordinary People: Britain's Identical Quads on Monday, October 9. The live special and Extraordinary People documentary are being made by Brighter Pictures, the Endemol subsidiary responsible for Big Brother and previous Five show Cosmetic Surgery Live.
Elaine Hackett and Nick Aarons are the executive producers.’

I think that this show will be pretty amazing as it will allow so many people out there to experience what a live birth feels like and also may create empathy amongst some viewers. Channel Five will gain the attention of the vast public as this is the first time anything like this will be broadcasted live. I guess in a way it will be freaky because it is live, but then again reality TV always leaves us stunned and amazed.
